At Smart IT, we’re always looking for ways to give back to the community. So, when Grassboots reached out to us about donating sports clothing or footwear to their charity, we were more than happy to get involved. Grassboots is an incredible organization that helps families struggling to equip their kids with the right gear for playing sports. From football boots to jerseys, they make sure every child can take part, no matter their financial situation.
It’s hard to imagine kids missing out on playing sports because they don’t have the right clothing or shoes, while at the same time, perfectly good gear is being thrown out by other families simply because their kids have outgrown it. The idea of redistributing these items to those in need just makes complete sense. Why let them go to waste when they could help young athletes pursue their dreams? Geoff, founder of Grassboots, was so inspired by this concept that he started the charity.
Now, while none of us at Smart IT had any boots or clothing we’ve outgrown (height and shoe size that is!), the story really resonated with us. Sports play a huge role in our local community, and at Smart IT, we proudly sponsor several local teams across the North East and Yorkshire. We know first-hand how important it is for kids to be able to play, have fun, and grow as part of a team.
That’s why we decided to take things a step further. Instead of just looking for second-hand items, we went ahead and purchased brand new boots for the kids Grassboots supports. Every child deserves the chance to run onto the pitch, chase their goals, and, who knows, maybe even become the next Harry Kane or Lionel Messi!
And we’d love for you to get involved too! If you have any unused sports gear—whether it’s boots, jerseys, or anything in between—drop it off at our office. We’re collecting donations to pass along to Grassboots so even more kids can get the opportunity to play.
We believe in helping kids get the best start in life—on and off the field. Grassboots is doing fantastic work, and we encourage anyone with spare sports gear to consider donating. It’s a simple act that can make a world of difference.
