Smart It pride ourselves on providing meaningful education and career opportunities for all. Since 2017 Smart IT have have worked with over 25 apprentices and have over a 90% apprentice retention rate. Developing a strong team through apprentices is something we really believe in and pride ourselves on. Smart IT were given an opportunity to provide work experience to a student from Whickham School.
Whist working with Smart IT pupils can experience a realistic IT work environment aswell as developing problem-solving, initiative and teamwork skills throughout. Developing new skills was a priority for us however further improving their existing IT skills was also important. Throughout their time with Smart IT our pupil carried out many tasks:
- Rebuilding and setting up Windows PC’s
- Building and maintaining a server
- Creating Virtual Machines on our network
- Creating new shared drives
All these tasks are something our engineers can expect on the daily and give a good idea of what a real working day could be like.

Andrew Bainbridge, Smart IT’s service delivery manager works closely with our apprentices and work experience to ensure they have the best experience possible throughout their career journey. Andrew understands the importance of building a strong community with the business.
